Assam Career : The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati is inviting applications for a high-level research position in the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering. This recruitment is for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) to contribute to a specialized biophysical study involving the Newcastle Disease Virus (NDV).
The project, titled “Investigating the Newcastle Disease Virus F protein cleavage using biophysical approaches,” focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of viral fusion proteins, which is critical for developing antiviral strategies.

Eligibility Criteria
1. Educational Qualification:
B.E./B.Tech. or M.E./M.Tech. or M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Microbiology, Biochemical Engineering, Industrial Microbiology, or Industrial Biotechnology.
2. Mandatory National Exam Selection:
Candidates must have been selected through any of the following:
CSIR-UGC NET (including Lectureship/Assistant Professorship).
GATE.
Any National Level examination conducted by Central Government agencies (DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IISc, IISER, NISER, etc.).
3. Desirable Experience:
Prior hands-on experience in peptide synthesis is highly preferred.
Research Context: NDV F Protein Cleavage
The Newcastle Disease Virus (NDV) is a significant pathogen. The F (fusion) protein of the virus must be cleaved by host cell proteases to become active, allowing the virus to enter the cell. This project utilizes biophysical approaches to study this specific cleavage process.
Selection Process & Interview Details
The recruitment will be finalized via a Walk-in Interview. Candidates are advised to prepare for technical questions regarding protein chemistry and biophysical techniques.
Interview Date: 9th February 2026
Time: 10:00 AM
Venue: N-block, Meeting room, Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering, IIT Guwahati, Assam.
