Assam Career : The Indian Institute of Geomagnetism (IIG), an autonomous institution under the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, is inviting applications for a significant recruitment drive in 2026. IIG is seeking 26 motivated Junior Research Fellows (JRF) to conduct advanced research in fields ranging from Space Physics to Marine Geophysics.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess an M.Sc. or M.Sc. (Tech.) in any of the following disciplines:

• Physics / Geophysics / Space Physics / Atmospheric Science.

• Applied Geology / Applied Mathematics.

• Applied Geophysics / Marine Geophysics and allied subjects.

Mandatory Requirements:

• Minimum of 60% marks (or equivalent CGPA) in the Master's degree.

• Must have had Physics or Mathematics as a subject during their B.Sc.

Selection Procedure

The selection process is designed to identify the best research talent through a two-tiered approach:

1. Direct Interview: Candidates with a valid GATE / NET / INSPIRE (JRF) certificate in the relevant subjects may be called directly for the interview.

2. Entrance Exam: Candidates without the above certifications must appear for an entrance exam conducted by IIG.

   • Qualifying Marks: 50% (A 5% relaxation is available for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD/EWS candidates).

3. Final Stage: An interview held at IIG, Navi Mumbai.
